‘Our writing equipment takes part in the forming of our thoughts.’ – Nietzsche
This is a space for nurturing my enduring love of stationery and all things paper. I am a self-confessed ‘papyrophile’, which is the closest word I could find to ‘a lover of stationery’, a combination of the Latin words for ‘paper’ (papyrus) and ‘love’ (philia). Scattered across photo albums and various electronic devices are images of the beautiful objects that colour my everyday life, and they are gathered here in one place for my own enjoyment and for your perusal. Each display of stationery goods is accompanied by a date (hence the ‘du jour’ of the title), though not necessarily in chronological order; sometimes these objects are triggers for memory, and lead the mind towards recent or distant past. All photographs are my own unless otherwise stated; writings on stationery will also be credited accordingly.
